Privacy Notice
Last updated: August 13, 2026 · Applies to FormsPal's online-divorce service
This Privacy Notice describes what personal data FormsPal's online-divorce service (the "Service") collects, how we store, process, and use it, and the choices you have. Preparing divorce documents necessarily involves sensitive personal information. This notice is written for that reality.
1. Who we are
| Controller | DigiDocuments, Inc. (registration number 3784405) |
|---|---|
| Address | 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, New Castle, USA |
| privacy@formspal.com (privacy) · support@formspal.com (general) |
2. What we collect and why
Questionnaire and case information
To determine your document package and fill the official court forms, we collect the information the forms require. Depending on your case this can include:
- your and your spouse's names and contact details
- marriage, separation, and residency details. The county where you'll file
- information about your minor children (names, dates of birth, living arrangements) where the forms require it
- property, debt, income, and support information you choose to include
- the last 3 digits of your driver's license and Social Security numbers where your state's official forms ask for them (we never ask for the full numbers).
Purpose: preparing your documents and operating your case dashboard (performance of our contract with you). Storage: for the life of your account and for 3 years after account deletion (aligned with formspal.com's platform retention), unless you request earlier deletion.
One exception, so it is not a surprise: files you upload to us, such as notarized copies and screenshots you attach to a message, are deleted about six months after your divorce is finalised, even if your account stays open. Your answers and the documents we generate from them are not affected, and you can download anything you want to keep before then. We do this because scanned court paperwork is the most sensitive thing we hold and there is no good reason to keep it once your case is over.
Account data
Email address and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash, we cannot read your password), used to create and secure your account and communicate about your case.
Documents you upload
If you upload signed or notarized copies of your documents, we store them to assemble your filing packet. They are accessible only to your account.
Payment data
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We receive confirmation details (masked card number, amount, date) but never your full card number. Payment records are retained as required by tax and accounting law.
Technical data, cookies, and advertising
We collect standard technical data (IP address, device and browser information, pages visited) to operate and secure the Service. If you arrive from an advertisement, we capture campaign parameters (UTM tags and ad-platform click IDs) to measure our advertising. When advertising/analytics tags are enabled, we use Google Analytics/Ads, Meta, and TikTok pixels. See the Cookie Notice for the specific cookies and how to opt out.
Usage analytics and session replay (Microsoft Clarity)
We partner with Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the Service, our public and questionnaire pages and the signed-in account area, through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay, so we can improve the Service. Clarity captures how you interact with pages (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling). All text on the page and everything you type is masked before capture, so your answers, messages, and the contents of your documents are not readable in replays. Clarity does not run on sign-in/password pages. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and shared with Microsoft. For more about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
SMS (text-message) communications
If you optionally provide your phone number and check the SMS-consent box, you agree to receive case-related text messages from us. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message/data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. We log your consent (time, IP) as required by the TCPA.
3. Who we share data with
| Recipient | Why |
|---|---|
| Payment processors (e.g. Stripe) | To process your payments. |
| Live-chat provider (tawk.to) | To run the chat window on your case dashboard. Your chat messages are stored with them as part of the transcript. |
| E-signature, online-notarization, and e-filing providers | Only when you use those steps: the information those services need to complete your signing, notarization, or filing. |
| Analytics and advertising platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok, Microsoft Clarity) | Aggregate usage measurement, session analytics, and ad attribution, per the Cookie Notice. We do not share your questionnaire answers or documents with ad or analytics platforms. |
| Infrastructure and support vendors | Hosting, email delivery, and customer-support tooling under confidentiality obligations. |
| Courts and authorities | Documents you direct us to file, or where the law compels disclosure. |
We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell or share the contents of your divorce documents for advertising.
4. How we protect it
Encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls limiting case data to your account, staff confidentiality obligations, and vendor agreements. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We notify affected users of breaches as the law requires.
5. Your rights
Depending on your state (including Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with consumer-privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To exercise any right, email privacy@formspal.com with the subject "Privacy Request" from your account email, we respond within the timeframe your state's law requires (typically 30–60 days). You can also correct most case information directly from your profile.
Deletion
Email support@formspal.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request" from your account email. After verification we delete or anonymize your data, except records we must keep for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.
6. Children's information
The Service is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Information about your minor children is collected only because the court forms require it, is provided by you as their parent, and is used solely to prepare your documents.
7. Updates
We will post any updated version here and, for material changes affecting your rights, notify you on the Service. This notice is drafted with reference to applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
